Hi Clarice! I just recently discovered your blog from the Healthy Living Blog website. I’m a fellow NH blogger, except that I’m in Alabama for the time being completing my dietetic internship. Several years back my husband and I took a sushi making class by one of the authors of “Sushi for Dummies.” The key was learning to make the rice… and then practicing rolling. We love our sushi!

My immersion blender! I use it all the time for soups, sauces, smoothies, hummus, dips…A close second would be my air popcorn popper. I love popcorn but I hate all the chemicals in the microwave stuff and don’t want all the fat from oil for the stovetop stuff.

I’d say rice cooker. I can cook rice with a pot, but I tend to burn them or undercook them. Also, I can set a timer so it will be ready when i come home :)

Ooh it seems I need to add an apple and pineapple corer to my arsenal. I do have aprons and a good chefs knife. Thankfully Jeremy keeps the knives sharp because I hate the sound.

I have a great apple corer that I really love, makes it way easier. I also have a pineapple corer that hasn’t been getting as much use lately. What I love about it is that it leaves the outer pineapple shell in tact, so you can serve fruity drinks inside of it

Has to be my crinkle cutter from Pampered Chef! I like to cut real carrots b/c they taste so much better than baby carrots and the crinkle cutter makes it so easy!

I wrote a post about my favorite kitchen tools a few months back, and my favorite is my apron. Aprons aren’t “tools” per se, but I cannot cook without wearing one. If you don’t want to call that a tool, then my second favorite is my electric corkscrew…I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about that.

aw, Clarice!! You can live in harmony with your insect neighbors! I do it! The key is definitely belligerent cleanliness. And also I let the cats chase & eat any bug they find in the house. And I never kill a spider because they are on my side. (Well they are also my favorite animal)

Florida has 23 species of roach, 17 of which are indiginous (I know that stat off the top of my head! Haha). You’re probably also outnumbered.

Thanks Tiff. I have a pile to work through right now, but when I run out I'll let you know. I read Gone Girl a few weeks ago and was intrigued. I didn't think I liked mysteries, but if there are more modern mysteries like that my mind might be changed.

The things we do to support our husbands and their dreams :) Having a productive unemployment time is the only way to survive it. And it looks at lot better in interviews if you have a project you have been working on that is seen as valuable by potential employers. Good Luck with the job hunt!

Our baby was a surprise. We hadn’t planned on having a kid… ever. But when faced with a pregnancy we decided to change our tune. A nurse at my doctor’s office asked me how long we had been married. I responded 4 1/2 years. She told me, “it’s about time you stop honeymooning anyways”.

Either way, I have learned the kid question can be a very painful one. Some of my friends can’t get pregnant. One would risk paralysis if they tried. Others have rocky relationships with their spouses that a child would suffer through. Asking someone when they will have kids can make a person burst into tears. So I know not to ask. Heck, people ask me if we used In-vitro because we waited so long.
