Seriously, Red Cross!

Here’s the thing, I’m a person who takes civic duties very seriously. I vote in all elections even the really minor ones, even the primary. I pick up litter. I give blood. However, the Red Cross or whatever powers might really be in charge, make giving blood a terribly difficult obnoxious process.

I know giving blood is important, and I want to have a good attitude about giving. But each time I go, I feel the experience gets a little bit worse. Yesterday, it took an hour and 20 minutes to get through the entire process. I had an appointment, I drank lots of water, and still it took over an hour.

A few suggestions to quicken the process:

  1. Paper work should be filled out, in advance, online – you can file your taxes, pay bills, buy stocks or basically anything else on the internet. Why can’t you complete the yes or no questions in advance? This alone would have shaved 20 minutes off of my time. If someone is going to lie on the questionnaire they will lie whether they are there or at home.
  2. Please get Competent phlebotomists– Does one have to  pass a test to work for the Red Cross? I’m sure that sounds snarky, but really getting stuck in both arms!

It seems I only have two suggestions! These two suggestions would make the process faster and more pleasurable. Honestly, I would be willing to donate money and blood if it could make the whole process move along more quickly.
